Call of Duty Elite Ends in February

Call of Duty Elite, Activision’s service for tracking stats and progress in the first-person shooter franchise, will end Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. ET, according to an Activision FAQ that also explains what happens next.

Launched in late 2011 alongside the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with a mixture of free and paid services, Elite became free alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in late 2012. The service is available on consoles, mobile devices and PC.

When Elite shuts down this week, clans and their management tools for Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3 will no longer be available.

Activision is encouraging players to download the Call of Duty app for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which contains similar functionality for the latest game in the first-person shooter franchise. Those who’ve logged into Call of Duty Elite since Jan. 1, 2014 will also receive two hours of double XP in Ghosts, which will appear in player profiles “soon.”
