Dota 2 Finally Exits Beta, Launches on Steam

The frequently updated beta for Valve’s Dota 2 is over, and the free-to-play MOBA has officially launched. The developer warns “there may be a short wait for you to download the game.”

You can queue up on Steam right now.

Dota 2 is a notoriously difficult game with a hardcore community, so be sure to check out our noob’s guide to the action/strategy game below if you’re new to the genre.

After temporarily closing the Dota 2 game page download options, the game is officially, for-real available. The Dota 2 FAQ has a ton of handy info about how it’s rolling out, a look at Valve’s hefty server load, and more. You’ll still have to queue to play, so the sooner you install, the better chances you’ll have of playing. “You’ll see your place in line,” the developer writes, “and when it is your turn we’ll send you an email letting you know you’re in. We’ll begin sending those emails this week.”
