Mario Kart 7 update kills shortcut exploits

Nintendo Europe today announced that it launched an update for Mario Kart 7 that kills off several shortcut exploits for the 3DS racing game. The update removes shortcuts Nintendo deems unfair on the Wuhu Island Loop, Wuhu Mountain Loop, and GBA Bowser Castle 1 courses.

Gamers who elect not to install the update will remain able to take part in Mario Kart 7’s single-player and multiplayer modes, but will not be able to play online. As of press time, Nintendo of America had not responded to GameSpot’s inquiry regarding when the update will launch in North America.
