Carrying on a fine tradition that saw the likes of Link, Spawn, Heihachi, Yoda, and Darth Vader as featured fighters in previous iterations of the franchise, NAMCO Bandai revealed that SoulCalibur V would feature Ezio Auditore da Firenze of Assassin’s Creed fame as a playable character in the game’s roster. The white-clad assassin that found fame in Ubisoft’s stealth/murder franchise will be available in both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.
Of all of the previous characters to make guest appearances within the SoulCalibur universe, Ezio perhaps makes the most sense. A renaissance-era assassin, Ezio fits in more closely to the game’s time period setting than Spawn or Darth Vader would, and even his backstory would seem to fit in well with the game’s roster of fighters. A clandestine Italian assassin working for a secret organization of killers, Ezio is a great fit for the game’s roster of fiends and revered heroes.
